Exploring Carsharing Diffusion Challenges through Systems Thinking and Causal Loop Diagrams

چکیده

The diffusion of carsharing in cities can potentially support the transition towards a sustainable mobility system and help build circular economy. Since urban transportation is complex due to involvement various stakeholders, including travelers, suppliers, manufacturers, government, holistic approach based on systems thinking essential capture this complexity its causalities. In regard, current research aims at identifying cause-and-effect relationships services within transport systems. To do so, causal loop diagram (CLD) developed identify causalities adoption. On basis, main four players domain were scrutinized their causes effects visualized, (i) characteristics, behavior, dynamics society population; (ii) planning; (iii) car manufacturing industry; (iv) environmental pollution. CLD decision-makers field gain systemic analyzing issues sector complexity. Moreover, they regulators policymakers intensifying more modes by highlighting role population, manufacturing, system,

ARCHIVES Problems with causal-loop diagrams

Founded in the mid1950s, the field of system dynamics has intellectual roots reaching much further into the past. The Archives section of the Review seeks to publish material from that past which can contribute to current theory and practice. The section welcomes previously unpublished but deserving system dynamics work, classics from past system dynamics literature that should receive renewed ...

Causal diagrams in systems epidemiology

Methods of diagrammatic modelling have been greatly developed in the past two decades. Outside the context of infectious diseases, systematic use of diagrams in epidemiology has been mainly confined to the analysis of a single link: that between a disease outcome and its proximal determinant(s). Transmitted causes ("causes of causes") tend not to be systematically analysed. The infectious diseas...

Collaborative Systems Thinking Research: Exploring systems thinking within teams

This paper describes ongoing research that seeks to develop an empirical basis for collaborative systems thinking, defined as “an emergent behavior of teams resulting from the interactions of team members and utilizing a variety of thinking styles, design processes, tools, and communication media to consider system attributes, interrelationships, context and dynamics towards executing systems d...

Developing System Dynamics Models from Causal Loop Diagrams

In this paper we discuss how a Causal Loop diagram (CLD) can be labeled and structured incrementally in order to finally transform it into a Stock and Flow diagram. A CLD does not contain enough information to describe a model uniquely. Hence the decisions on how to transform the CLD cannot be made automatically; they must be based on information about the modeled system. We describe a general ...

Effects of causal loop diagrams on escalating commitment

Previous research suggests that decision makers have the tendency to keep on investing in losing courses of action. The present study focuses on de-escalation and proposes causal loop diagrams as a technique to decrease escalating commitment in a failing action. The effectiveness of causal loop diagrams is also contrasted with the effect of receiving a list of important factors. Causal loop dia...
